Modern Farmhouse Decor from Walmart!
If you read this recent post about “my 5 kitchen rules”, you know that I only buy/use items in my kitchen – and really my home too – that are white, wood, stainless, glass, and occasionally something with a pop of blue. (Be sure to ready why I follow this rule here ~ it may not work for everyone, but works well for me!).

I ran into Walmart this morning and couldn't believe all of the fun kitchen/home items that fell into those categories and how organized my store was (TIP – head to Walmart really early in the morning!)! There were oodles of cute farmhouse decor on the shelves, AND many of the items had a modern flare and looked similar to higher end styles from Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, or Crate & Barrel.
Here are 10 of my favorite modern farmhouse decor items:
1. Serving Platter
Yikes! Don't pay almost $25 for this small rectangular porcelain serving platter at Williams Sonoma when you can grab this similar one for under $7 at Walmart. I love that it's microwave and dishwasher-safe, too!
- Walmart Version: $6.97 (the 2-count is in stock for under $14 and such a steal!)
- Williams-Sonoma Version: $24.95-$54.95
2. Utensil Holder
Ya'll. I own and love this White Utensil Holder (on right – it currently sells for $29.95 at Williams Sonoma!), but have been looking for something a little bigger to hold all of my utensils. (I'm pretty sure I've had mine for 20 years so I figured it was OK to spend a little on a new one??).
The best part is that I didn't even break the bank with my new Walmart purchase – this Glazed Stoneware Utensil Holder (on left) was under $7.50 and holds a TON ~ I LOVE it! 
- Walmart Version: $7.42
- Williams-Sonoma Version: $29.95
3. Bake and Serve Dish with Tray Lid
Ohhh this Better Homes & Gardens Bake and Serve Dish with Tray Lid at Walmart is calling my name ~ it's gorgeous! I love that the lid can even be used as a separate serving tray! (I couldn't find it online, but it's definitely worth looking for the next time you're at Walmart if you love it too!) This similar Le Creuset Casserole with Platter Lid sells for $85 at Nordstrom. WOW!
- Walmart Version: $14.88 (in-store only, but this similar 3-piece set is only $15!)
- Nordstrom/Le Creuset Version: $84.95
4. Hob Nail Ceramic Canisters
I think these Walmart canisters would be perfect for a French Country or farmhouse kitchen. The Hob Nail style with wooden lid and brass detail are so classy! Plus, they start as low as $8.88 at Walmart and you'll pay almost twice that much for similar canisters at Pottery Barn.
- Walmart Version: $8.88-$12.88
- Pottery Barn Version: $14.50-$24.50 each
5. Window Pane Lanterns
These wood window pane lanterns are great for seasonal decor (check out this DIY Christmas lantern idea below!), but you can also use them year-round in just about any style home decor.
- Walmart Version: $14.88-$24.98 each
- Pottery Barn Version: $125-$299 each
You could easily swap out the items in these Window Pane lanterns with items for every season!

You may not find these 5 items at Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel, but all of them fit into the “5 kitchen rules” I follow and would look great in a farmhouse or modern farmhouse kitchen.
6. Better Homes & Gardens Wood Kitchen Bin – $17.76 (or possibly only $15.88 online!)
I absolutely adore this kitchen bin! It could be used to display seasonal decorations OR you could use it in your pantry to store your canned goods, pasta, or other snacks ~ and would look so cute!
7. White Farmhouse Tabletop Dry Erase WiFi Password Sign – $8.84
Oh my stars ~ how fun is this?? This sign would look darling displayed on a table and would be practical to use with… ahem…the kids, or even for house guests.
8. Storage Bin with Paulownia Wood Lid – $9.97
This adorable storage bin would be perfect for organizing your bathroom, linen closet, or even your beauty items. The wooden lid makes them easy to stack and conceals everything nicely, too!
9. Better Homes & Gardens Metal Laundry Caddy – $14.97
I think this laundry caddy would look so cute in any farmhouse style home! (You can also snag the Small Detergent Holder for under $8 or the Large Detergent Holder for under $13).
10. White Wood Table Lamp – $24.94 online ($26.97 in store)
This White Wash Faux Wood Table Lamp is darling and would look great in a farmhouse style home. Plus, it's under $27 and has fabulous reviews, too!
